App builder

Your own crypto charts app
with every level and note saved.

Describe the pairs and timeframes you study and Netiva’s AI builds a web app for candlestick charts from your market-data API, saved setups, drawn levels and research notes — with code you own.

Starter prompt

Build a crypto charts web app for a small research community. Pull OHLCV candles from my market-data provider’s API for pairs such as BTC/USD and ETH/BTC, with timeframes from 15 minutes to 1 week, candle or line style and log scale. Members sign in and save chart setups with indicators such as SMA 50 and RSI 14. Levels, trend lines and ranges form one shared layer per pair, saved as time and price points so they show at every timeframe and filter by member. Each research note names its author, links to a setup and records its last candle time, thesis status, review date and the author’s position.

Build it in Netiva Paste the prompt into a new workspace and adjust it to your business.
Overview

Who this crypto charts app is for

Crypto analysis rarely lives in one place. The chart sits on a charting site, the levels you drew are locked inside that account, the reasoning is in a doc and last month’s screenshot no longer matches any live chart. When a call plays out or fails, no one can see the chart as it looked then. A crypto charts app built with Netiva keeps pairs, saved setups, drawn levels and research notes together, pulls candles from the market-data API you choose and pins each note to the last candle it used, so readers see the chart you saw.

Key features

What your crypto charts app can do

  • Candles at every timeframe

Charts draw open, high, low, close and volume from the market-data API you choose, with your key stored securely. Switch a pair from 15-minute to weekly candles without leaving the page.

    • Candlestick, OHLC bar and line styles with a volume pane
    • Linear or log price scale for multi-year ranges
    • Recent candles cached, where your plan allows, to stay within the rate limit
    • Times shown in UTC or in the viewer’s time zone
  • Saved chart setups

A setup stores the pair, timeframe, style, indicators and range, so a chart you built last week reopens exactly as you left it. Each member signs in and sees their own setups.

    • Indicator settings per setup, such as SMA 50 or RSI 14
    • Rolling ranges that follow the latest candle, or fixed dates
    • Setups filtered by pair and timeframe in saved views
    • A private or public switch on every setup
  • Levels, lines and ranges

Drawings are saved as records with time and price points instead of screen positions. They form one shared layer per pair, so a support level marked on the daily chart also shows on the hourly one.

    • Horizontal levels, trend lines, range boxes and text labels
    • Labels such as weekly open or prior range high
    • One layer per pair, with each mark tagged by the member who drew it
    • Marks listed, filtered by member and corrected in the spreadsheet-like grid
  • Research notes with review dates

Each note is tied to a setup and records when its data ends, a thesis status and a date to revisit it. Published notes get their own pages, and authors get an email when a review comes due.

    • Draft, published, under review, invalidated and played-out statuses
    • Public pages that draw the chart only up to the note’s data time
    • A position disclosure shown on every public note
    • A weekly email listing the notes due for review

How it works

From prompt to a live crypto charts app

  1. Name your pairs and data source

Tell Netiva which pairs and timeframes you chart and which market-data provider you use. The agent drafts collections for markets, setups, annotations and notes, and your API key is stored securely.

  2. Get the first chart right

Open a setup in the live preview and compare its candles with your provider’s own chart for the same pair. Annotate anything off, such as a time zone shift or a missing volume pane, and the agent fixes it.

  3. Bring over your levels and notes

Enter the levels and past notes you already keep in the collection grid, or ask the collection assistant to draft records and tidy dates and tickers across many rows at once.

  4. Open it to members

Publish in one click, invite members to sign in and turn on the weekly review email. Each edit is checkpointed, so an indicator change that breaks a chart can be undone by rolling back.

Examples

Ways teams use it

  • An independent crypto analyst

One setup per pair and timeframe holds the indicators the analyst relies on. Each note records its data-as-of time and a review date, and the Monday email lists theses that are due, so invalidated calls stay on record instead of quietly disappearing.

  • An instructor teaching market structure

Annotated examples are pinned to fixed date ranges and published to one page, so every student opens the same candles the class discussed. Two instructors edit the app together in one workspace and roll back any change that breaks a chart.

  • A research community of a few hundred members

Members sign in and keep their own setups and notes, while each pair’s levels sit in one shared layer that anyone can filter down to a single member. A note goes public only when its author marks it published, with that author’s position shown beside it.

Good to know

Before you build

  • Bring your own market data

Netiva doesn’t supply prices. Pick a provider that covers your pairs, intervals and history. Some have no 4-hour candles, and many cap how many candles one request returns, so long ranges need several calls and a cache.

  • Check the display license

Market-data plans often restrict public display, require a credit line or limit how long you may cache candles and whether you may pass them on. Confirm all three before a chart leaves the signed-in area and before you turn caching on.

  • Opinion, clearly disclosed

Label public notes as education or opinion and show each author’s position. US law requires anyone paid to promote a crypto asset security to disclose the payment, and the UK has regulated cryptoasset promotions since 8 October 2023. Get legal review before selling signals.

  • Daily candles depend on the cut-off

Crypto trades around the clock, so there’s no official daily close. Many providers start each day at 00:00 UTC, some let you pick a time zone and venues quote different prices. Record each pair’s source and state the cut-off on public pages.

Compliance note

Netiva builds the charting web app only. It doesn’t supply prices, mine, hold or move funds, place trades or give investment advice. Candles come from the market-data provider you choose, under that provider’s license. Notes published through the app are their authors’ opinions, not recommendations. If you plan to sell trade signals, manage money for others or accept payment to cover a coin, get legal review in each country you publish to.

FAQ

Questions about building a crypto charts app

Where does a crypto charts app get its candle data?

From the market-data API you connect, with your key stored securely. The app requests open, high, low, close and volume for each pair and interval, and caches recent candles, where your plan allows storing them, so repeat views don’t burn through your rate limit. Netiva doesn’t supply prices, so how far back your charts go and which smaller tokens they cover depend on your provider’s plan.

Can I chart 4-hour candles if my provider doesn’t offer them?

Yes, as long as it offers hourly candles. Ask the agent to combine each block of four: the open of the first candle, the highest high, the lowest low, the close of the last one and the total volume. Aligning the blocks to 00:00 UTC keeps them in step with 4-hour charts from providers that use UTC.

Why doesn’t my daily candle match another charting site?

Crypto markets never close, so each data source decides when a day begins, and many use 00:00 UTC. Sources also differ in which venues they include, so the open, high, low and close can all shift. Store each pair’s price source in the app and state the daily cut-off on public pages so readers compare like with like.

Do drawn levels stay in place when I switch timeframes?

Yes. Each level, trend line or range is saved as time and price points, not screen positions, so the app redraws it correctly on a 15-minute chart or a weekly one. Marks belong to the pair rather than a single setup, so a support level you drew on the daily BTC/USD chart also appears on your hourly setup. The layer is shared, so filter it to your own marks or one member’s.

Can I publish charts and research notes for anyone to read?

Yes. When an author marks a note published, it gets a public page showing the chart up to its data-as-of time, the author’s marks and a position disclosure, while setups stay private unless their owner makes them public. Check that your data plan allows public display. You can build on the free plan; your own domain needs the Starter plan or higher.

Can I add RSI, moving averages or Bollinger Bands?

Yes. Ask the agent for them, and each setup stores its own settings. Common defaults are a 14-period RSI and Bollinger Bands two standard deviations either side of a 20-period moving average. The formulas live in clean code you own, so you or a reviewer can read them, change them in the editor or export the whole app.
