Comparison

Netiva vs Wix,
an AI workspace or a hybrid editor.

Wix pairs drag-and-drop design with AI; Netiva builds sites, web apps and stores from a chat. Here’s how they compare on content, selling, code, hosting, mobile and price, with sources.

The short answer

Netiva and Wix both start from a prompt and publish a hosted site, but they work in different ways. Wix’s Harmony editor pairs agentic AI with drag-and-drop control, 2,000+ templates, a CMS, eCommerce with 70+ payment providers and selling on marketplaces and social channels, plus a no-code builder for native iOS and Android apps and a developer platform for custom Node.js code. Netiva is chat-first: one agent builds websites, data-backed web apps and stores in a single workspace, with a built-in CMS and clean code you own and can export, while a Wix site has to run on Wix’s servers. Pick Wix for templates, visual editing, multichannel selling or a native app; pick Netiva for web apps and code you can take with you.

Netiva is best for

Websites, data-backed web apps and stores built by chatting with an agent, with a built-in CMS and exportable code you own

Wix is best for

Template-based business sites refined by drag and drop, multichannel stores and brands that want a native mobile app

Feature by feature

What you can build

Business websites, web apps and headless setups

Depends on your project

Netiva

One Netiva workspace covers marketing sites, online stores, booking systems, portfolios and docs, and it also builds web apps: dashboards, portals and SaaS products that run on real data. Booking isn’t a separate product here: you tell the agent which services, availability rules and confirmation emails you need, and it builds that logic into the app. People who use those apps can sign in and see only their own records. The apps you build can call any REST API with the keys kept secure, send emails and run scheduled jobs such as reminders or weekly digests.

Wix

Wix says its AI website generator can create a wide variety of professional websites for any industry or goal, including online stores, sites for service businesses, blogs, events sites and portfolios. Scheduling and services come with the Core plan and up, so appointment booking ships as a Wix product. Visitors can sign up for their own account in a site’s Members Area, and pages can be set to Members Only. For developers, Wix Headless puts Wix’s business backend — CMS, eCommerce, Bookings, Events and Payments — behind any custom frontend, and custom backend code runs in a fully supported Node.js environment, with Wix handling the infrastructure, hosting and scaling.[1][2][3][4][15]

Wix covers a broad range of business sites, ships scheduling as a product and gives developers a headless backend and Node.js code. With Netiva, a booking flow, a client portal or a dashboard is something the agent builds into the app.

How you build

Chat with an agent or mix AI with drag and drop

Depends on your project

Netiva

In Netiva you describe the result in plain language, and the agent writes pages, wires up data and ships each change while a live preview updates beside the chat. To steer it, you annotate the preview or @mention a file, then keep the conversation going. You never have to code, but developers can open the editor, change files by hand and switch between the running app and its source with one click.

Wix

Wix Harmony is a hybrid editor that blends agentic AI with precise drag-and-drop control. You can create a site from a single prompt, then move between AI generation and drag and drop to refine any detail, or start from one of more than 2,000 templates. Wix plans also include four AI agents at no extra cost: Aria for building and design, Kleo for marketing and SEO, Juno for customer service and Omni for inventory. Developers can write the code instead: Wix’s Velo platform runs custom backend code, with a VS Code-based Wix IDE in beta for Wix Studio sites and a Wix MCP server that lets an AI coding tool search Wix docs, scaffold code and call Wix APIs from the IDE.[2][4][5][15]

If you like placing elements by hand or starting from a template, Wix’s hybrid editor is designed for that, and either platform can be worked on in code. Netiva’s difference is directing the whole build in conversation and steering it in the preview.

Content and CMS

Two built-in CMSs organized as collections

About even

Netiva

Netiva’s CMS is organized as collections. You define the fields each content type needs from nine field types, including text, HTML, image, video, file and date, with slugs generated for you, relations between collections, required fields and defaults. Editors work in a grid that feels like a spreadsheet, save filtered and sorted views, and bind a collection to pages so list and detail pages render on their own. A collection-aware assistant can translate, reformat or fill fields across many rows and draft new records for review.

Wix

Wix also stores content in CMS collections: databases for text, images, videos and other content that feed dynamic pages and page elements. An AI Collection Creator builds a new collection from a name and a prompt, and any collection can be turned into a catalog collection so you can sell its items straight from your site. A Wix site can have up to 298 pages in total, including up to 100 static pages.[6]

Both give editors structured content that drives dynamic pages, so the choice comes down to workflow. Netiva documents AI bulk edits across existing rows; Wix documents AI that creates whole collections and a way to sell from any collection.

Commerce

Built-in selling with different strengths

Edge: Wix

Netiva

Netiva’s store lives in the same workspace as your site. Products carry variants with sizes, colors, SKUs and their own price and stock, sit in categories and merchandised collections, and stay in Draft until you mark them Active, with low stock flagged in the list. The hosted one-page checkout takes cards out of the box, with automatic tax and multi-currency. Orders move through fulfillment, refunds and customer notes, and shipping covers several warehouses, real carrier rates, labels and tracking. Checkout runs on Stripe, with PayPal alongside it from the Pro plan.

Wix

Wix’s plan list includes accepting payments and eCommerce from the Core plan up, moving from basic to standard and advanced eCommerce on higher plans. Stores can use Wix Payments or connect PayPal, Stripe and more than 70 other providers, depending on where the business is based. Wix also lets you reach shoppers on Google, eBay, Etsy, Amazon, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and Wish and manage it all from the Wix dashboard, and it says products are set up automatically to be found and bought through AI assistants such as ChatGPT and Perplexity.[4][5][7]

Wix reaches more places to sell and supports more payment providers. Netiva keeps variants, stock, tax, carrier rates and shipping labels in the same workspace as your site and apps.

Code ownership

Exportable code versus a site that stays on Wix

Edge: Netiva

Netiva

Netiva writes clean, framework-standard code, and that code is yours. Read it in the code view, change it in the editor and export it whenever you like. There’s no proprietary runtime to depend on, so a copy of your project can leave with you if your plans change.

Wix

Wix’s help center says the content you build on Wix belongs to you, but the site needs to be hosted and operated on Wix’s servers, so it can’t be moved to another host. For custom code, Git Integration and the Wix CLI store a site’s code in a GitHub repository, so developers can work in their own IDE with version control.[8][9]

If you may want to run your project somewhere else one day, Netiva lets you export the code. On Wix, your content is yours, but the site itself stays on Wix’s servers.

Hosting and domains

Hosting included, your own domain on a paid plan

About even

Netiva

Netiva takes care of global hosting, automatic SSL and preview URLs, and publishing is a single click. To go live on your own address, you add the DNS records Netiva lists at your domain registrar. Connecting a custom domain is available from the Starter plan.

Wix

Wix plans list multi-cloud hosting from Light up, and free-plan sites run on a Wix subdomain. Connecting a custom domain needs a Premium plan, with a domain bought from Wix or one you already own. Most yearly or multi-year Premium plans come with a voucher for a free domain for one year, on a first Premium purchase and for a new domain bought from Wix. Each Premium plan covers one site.[4][5][10]

Both handle hosting and ask for a paid plan before you connect your own domain. Wix adds a first-year domain voucher on most yearly plans, and each Wix Premium plan covers a single site.

Collaboration

Live co-editing and team roles

Depends on your project

Netiva

Netiva is set up for building together in real time. Invite teammates into the same workspace, watch their cursors move and leave comments directly on the preview while the project takes shape. Role-based access for team members comes with the Pro plan and up, and custom roles with Enterprise.

Wix

Wix plans list 2, 5, 10 or 100 site collaborators from Light to Business Elite. Collaborators get roles and permissions, and you can build custom roles from scratch or duplicate and edit existing ones. Wix documents concurrent editing for Wix Studio, and Git Integration extends it so several developers can work on a site’s code at the same time. Real-time co-editing for standard Wix sites is not stated on Wix’s site.[4][9][11]

Wix documents detailed roles and permissions, including custom roles, with seat counts that grow by plan. Netiva centers on live co-editing and comments on the preview, with roles from Pro and custom roles on Enterprise.

Versioning and rollback

Checkpoints and branches versus site history

Edge: Netiva

Netiva

Netiva saves a checkpoint for every edit. You can branch to try an idea, compare versions and roll back to any earlier moment without losing work, which makes a larger redesign or a new feature less risky to attempt.

Wix

Wix keeps a site history: a record of every time you, or someone working on your site, saved or published in the editor. You can restore an earlier saved or published version, but restoring erases any changes made after that version. Branches or staging copies of a site are not stated on Wix’s site.[12]

Both let you return to an earlier version. Netiva adds branches and side-by-side comparison, while a restore on Wix discards the changes made after the version you pick.

Mobile

Native mobile apps are a Wix strength

Edge: Wix

Netiva

Netiva builds web apps that open in the phone’s browser, with nothing to install, and its storefront pages are designed mobile-first. Those web apps can use the phone’s camera to scan barcodes. Netiva doesn’t produce native iOS or Android apps or packages for the App Store or Google Play.

Wix

Wix offers a no-code builder for native iOS and Android apps. You publish to Google Play and the App Store through Wix’s automatic app store submission tool, subject to Apple’s and Google’s approval. Publishing your own app needs a separate Mobile App Premium plan, billed monthly or yearly, and you don’t need a website Premium plan to create it. The price of that plan is not stated on Wix’s help page.[13][14]

If you want your own app in the App Store and Google Play, Wix can build and submit one. With Netiva, customers use a web app in their phone’s browser instead.

Decision

Which should you choose?

Choose Netiva if…

  • You need a web app, such as a client portal or dashboard where people sign in and see their own records, next to your website and store
  • You want clean, framework-standard code you can read, edit and export, with no proprietary runtime tying the project to one host
  • You’d rather describe changes in a chat and point at the live preview than place elements by hand
  • You want every edit checkpointed, with branches you can compare and roll back without losing later work
  • You want the agent to build the app logic too, such as REST API calls, scheduled email reminders or barcode scanning, without writing backend code yourself

Choose Wix if…

  • You need a native iOS or Android app in the App Store and Google Play alongside your website
  • You like starting from one of 2,000+ templates and adjusting the design by drag and drop
  • You sell on marketplaces and social channels such as Amazon, Etsy, eBay, Instagram and TikTok, or you need one of the 70+ payment providers Wix supports
  • You want to write backend code where the site runs: Wix runs custom Node.js code, with a browser-based IDE and an MCP server for AI coding tools
  • You want AI agents for marketing, SEO, customer service and inventory included with your plan

Where Wix is stronger

  • A no-code builder for native iOS and Android apps, published to the App Store and Google Play through Wix’s automatic submission tool, on a separate Mobile App Premium plan[13][14]
  • A hybrid editor with 2,000+ templates, plus four AI agents at no extra cost: Aria for building and design, Kleo for marketing and SEO, Juno for customer service and Omni for inventory[2][4][5]
  • Wide selling reach: Wix Payments or PayPal, Stripe and 70+ other providers, plus selling on Google, eBay, Etsy, Amazon, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and Wish from one dashboard[7]
  • A full developer platform: custom backend code in a fully supported Node.js environment, a VS Code-based Wix IDE in beta and a Wix MCP server for AI coding tools[9][15]

What Netiva doesn’t do

  • No native iOS or Android apps: Netiva builds web apps that open in the phone’s browser, not App Store or Google Play packages.
  • No importer: nothing brings a Wix site, its pages or its CMS content into Netiva automatically.
  • Selling on marketplaces and social channels isn’t part of Netiva’s store, and checkout runs on Stripe, with PayPal alongside it from the Pro plan.
  • Netiva’s site doesn’t describe a drag-and-drop editor or a template gallery; you build by chatting with the agent, annotating the preview or editing code.
Switching

Moving from Wix to Netiva

Wix sites have to run on Wix’s servers and Netiva has no importer, so switching means rebuilding with the agent rather than moving files. Wix says the content you build belongs to you, so gather your text, images, product details and CMS content first. If you used Git Integration, your custom site code is already in a GitHub repository you can refer to during the rebuild.

  1. Take stock of your Wix site

List your pages, CMS collections, products, member pages and forms, and save copies of the text and images. The Wix site itself can’t move to another host, so this list is what you rebuild from.

  2. Describe the site to the agent

Tell Netiva’s agent what each page is for, who visits and how it should look. Annotate the live preview or @mention files until the layout matches what you need.

  3. Recreate your CMS content in collections

Model each Wix collection with the fields it needs and bind it to list and detail pages. There’s no importer, but the collection assistant can draft records and clean or reformat rows in bulk.

  4. Rebuild your store and member areas

Add products with their variants and stock, then set up checkout, tax and shipping. Where Wix used member-only pages, ask the agent for user sign-in so each person sees their own records.

  5. Point your domain to Netiva and publish

Connect your custom domain, available from the Starter plan, by adding the DNS records Netiva lists at your registrar. Publish in one click; hosting and SSL are handled for you.

  • Marketplace and social selling, Wix’s AI agents and a native mobile app have no direct equivalent; AI features on your new site mean calling an AI provider’s API with your own key.

  • Custom code kept in GitHub through Wix’s Git Integration is a reference for the rebuild; Netiva doesn’t import it.

  • Keep your Wix site live until the Netiva version is published and your domain points to it, so visitors don’t hit a gap.

FAQ

Netiva vs Wix: common questions

Is Netiva a good Wix alternative?

It depends on what you’re building. Netiva suits you if you want to build by chatting with an AI agent, need a web app such as a client portal or dashboard next to your site or want clean code you can export. Wix suits you better if you like starting from a template and adjusting it by drag and drop, want to sell on marketplaces and social channels or need a native iOS or Android app. Both include a built-in CMS, online selling and hosting.

How does Wix pricing compare with Netiva?

Both have a free plan. Wix’s paid plans start with Light at $17 a month and Core at $29 a month, billed yearly in US dollars, and each Premium plan covers one site. Wix’s plan list adds payments and eCommerce from Core. Wix doesn’t publish month-to-month prices, and native mobile apps need a separate Mobile App Premium plan. Netiva’s paid plans add capacity and features such as custom domain connection and basic SEO tools from the Starter plan, with advanced SEO tools from Pro. The pricing cards above show both sides, checked on the date listed.

Can I export my site or code from Wix?

Not to run somewhere else. Wix’s help center says the content you build belongs to you, but a Wix site has to be hosted and operated on Wix’s servers, so it can’t be moved to another host. Developers using Git Integration keep the site’s custom code in a GitHub repository. Netiva takes a different approach: it writes framework-standard code that you own and can export at any time, with no proprietary runtime.

Can Netiva or Wix build native iOS and Android apps?

Wix can; Netiva can’t. Wix has a no-code builder for native iOS and Android apps and publishes them to the App Store and Google Play through its own submission tool, subject to Apple’s and Google’s approval. That needs a separate Mobile App Premium plan. Netiva builds web apps that open in the phone’s browser with nothing to install, and those web apps can scan barcodes with the phone’s camera. If a store listing matters to you, Wix is the better fit.

How do I move my Wix site to Netiva?

There’s no importer, and a Wix site can’t be moved to another host, so you rebuild rather than transfer. List your pages, CMS collections and products, then describe the site to Netiva’s agent and refine it in the live preview. Recreate your content in collections; the collection assistant can draft records and clean or reformat rows in bulk. Then connect your custom domain, available from the Starter plan, and publish. Keep the Wix site live until the new one is ready.

Which is better for an online store, Netiva or Wix?

It depends on where you sell. Wix stores can use Wix Payments or connect PayPal, Stripe and more than 70 other providers, and Wix lets you reach shoppers on marketplaces and social channels such as Amazon, Etsy, eBay, Instagram and TikTok from one dashboard. Netiva’s store covers variants and stock, a hosted one-page checkout, automatic tax, multi-currency, several warehouses, carrier rates and labels, with checkout on Stripe and PayPal from the Pro plan. If selling across many channels matters most, Wix fits better.
